Starting School

All children in Suffolk currently begin full-time education in the term in which their fifth birthday falls. However, in the academic year 2011-2012, in common with all Suffolk schools, parents will have the additional option to send their child full-time from the September before they are 5. If you wish to accept this offer you should first discuss it with the headteacher at the school.

It is quite usual for Class 1 to contain some children who became five just as they started school and some children who will not be five until they are almost ready to begin year one! This inevitably means that there will be a  difference in the stage of development that each child has reached.
